Karen Weibel and Barry Hershey

My father enlisted in the Navy early in life, and made a career of it. This meant that as a kid, we moved every two years. I saw a great deal of America through the back window of a station wagon as we drove from one duty station to another. While as a child I couldn’t put it into words, I knew that a safe, decent place to live was inherent to human dignity. I am dedicated to the work of LHOP because it’s mission elevates human dignity—all people should have the opportunity to live in safety and decency. – Karen Weibel

As a local Township Supervisor, I see home plans passing through the construction and approval process, knowing that many families are priced out of this American Dream.   Lancaster County and my municipality are constantly exploring methods to make home ownership more affordable.  Engineering, materials, land and construction costs can quickly outpace a family’s resources.

LHOP can assist in filling this widening gap.  LHOP works with municipalities, builders, landlords and financial institutions (to mention a few sources) to assist 1st time buyers to make home ownership affordable.

It’s always a great pleasure to hear with families are safe at home thanks to LHOP.  – Barry Hershey, West Lampeter Township
