Ray leads the implementation of LHOP’s strategic vision of the organization. Ray served on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of LHOP from 2005 until coming on the staff in September of 2009 as CEO. Ray is a military veteran and is passionate about housing issues due to the impact it has on his own life story. He served almost 20 years as a municipal manager gaining experience in planning, budgeting and infrastructure, and holds a bachelor’s degree in history/political science and a Master of Public Administration. Ray also serves on numerous community boards and commissions.
Shelby’s role as COO at LHOP centers around organizational management, communications and team building across all programs and staff from LHOP’s three offices. Shelby previously worked in Community and Economic Development with the Lancaster City Alliance where she led Neighborhood initiatives and directed Clean and Safe Programs and Resource Development. Shelby’s professional experience also includes Lancaster City Government and Television News Media. Shelby is passionate about serving our Lancaster community and region with LHOP to advance safe and fair housing opportunities which are foundational to the health, prosperity and growth of our region.
Larry is responsible for the overall management of LHOP’s budget and finances. Larry joined LHOP in July 2013. He served 3 years in the US Army. After the Army he attended college and graduated from Elizabethtown College with a BS Degree in Accounting. Larry has 40 year’s experience in the accounting field, primarily working in for profit manufacturing companies. He enjoys the challenge of working for a community benefit organization (non-profit) and contributing to LHOP’s mission and growth.
Born and raised in Reading PA, Marysol grew up in the projects of public housing. She began her career in banking in 2009 and exceled at various positions within the mortgage industry: Bank Support Analyst, Underwriter and Loan Document Specialist. Marysol brings over 17 years in customer service experience, and her previous role as a Housing Counselor gave Marysol the opportunity to grow and become a self-motivated and results-driven person. Her position included coordinating Homebuyer Education classes which allowed her to cultivate relationships with different Lenders, Bankers, Realtors and Insurance Companies while at the same time, developing a Housing Counselor process. Mrs. Carino is certified, through NCHEC, in pre-closing, pre-purchase Homebuyer Education and will be enrolling in training classes to further her education. Marysol is passionate about helping the York community improve their lives and accomplish their dreams.
Adrian Joined LHOP in 2016 as Director, Housing Equality & Equity Institute. He leads the effort of affirmatively furthering fair housing, by providing training, technical assistance in the filing of housing discrimination complaints, and bringing awareness to fair housing issues through innovative marketing programs and special events. Adrian brings a variety of experiences that span over 30 years in the areas human relations, advertising, marketing and insurance. He has been an active member of the community for over 15 years; having served on many of the local boards including SACA Development Corp., Lancaster Foundation for Educational Enrichment, Latino Education Committee, Lancaster Downtown Investment District and the LNP Community Editorial Board.
Laurie is responsible for developing and building relationships throughout the community by overseeing all aspects of fundraising. Laurie has devoted her entire career to fund raising in non-profits such as La Academia Partnership Charter School, The Arc of Lancaster, the American Red Cross and Resurrection Catholic School. She is a graduate of PSU with a Masters Degree in Public Administration.
Miriam is responsible for the programs and services offered under the Home Ownership Center. She is responsible for providing education to prospective home buyers and administering the Home Buyer Loan program. She also promotes LHOP’s programs and services to community organizations, realtors, lenders, employers, and others. Miriam has earned the NCHEC certification in Pre-purchase Homeownership Education. Miriam started at LHOP in March 2015 and, previously, was the LHOP Spanish instructor for the Home Buyer Education program from 1997-2004. Miriam was raised in public housing in the City of Lancaster. In her 27-year career, she has been dedicated to advocating and bringing financial knowledge and products to those in under-served markets. She is committed to the “Dream of Homeownership” and to promoting education about housing issues. She believes that every human interaction is an opportunity to teach and learn.
Jake works collaboratively with the residents and community partners in the implementation and further development of the SoWe neighborhood. Jake has over five years’ experience in community development and has worked with residents throughout the United States in non-profit management, property development, community development, and planning. Jake is passionate about creating and developing resident and stakeholder collaboratives to address neighborhood issues. Jake is an Americorps Alumni and a graduate of the Maxwell School at Syracuse University with a Masters in Public Administration.
As a Home Buyer Specialist, Kim assists First-time Homebuyers with the down payment and closing cost assistance program in York County. She also supports the education and counseling services for the Homebuyer Program Initiative. As a former foster child from Baltimore, Kim is passionate about helping families achieve the safety and stability of homeownership. She has since made York County her home by becoming a proud homeowner in York City. Bringing a variety of professional experiences, her background in revolving credit lending and customer service gives her the skills to help first-time homebuyers. She has devoted more than 14 years advocating for non-profits; assisting through fundraising, education, community events and administrative roles.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Susie Gomez has over 20 years’ experience in the business and finance industry. Her background in business management, lending, and former owner of her own brokerage has provided her valuable experience working with private and public-sector firms throughout Lancaster County and Central PA. Susie is a graduate of Project Blueprint of United Way and has been an active member of many local boards. Susie loves to volunteer her time with community events and leadership development campaigns. Susie is a 1999 graduate of LHOP’s Home Buyer Class and utilized LHOP programs to purchase her first home in 1999.
Brittany works to connect populations with special needs to programs and resources, supporting education and programming. Born and raised in Lancaster County, Brittany returned to Lancaster in 2018, after working in Philadelphia in non-profit program planning, management, and evaluation experience supporting vulnerable adults. She is passionate about the intersection of public health and affordable and accessible housing, with a Master of Public Health from Temple University.
Barbara Rivera manages LHOP’s reception area, greeting everyone with a smile and directing them to the services and resources they are seeking. In addition to staffing the front desk, Barbara is the behind-the-scenes guru, updating the website, serving as a notary public, supporting the Home Ownership Center, and more. If you have a question, Barbara can always point you towards the correct answer. Barbara is originally from New York, making Lancaster her home in 2013.
